Past Work

As a clerk to Justice Margot Botsford of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, I learned to rapidly review cases seeking review; to critically evaluate oral arguments; to comb voluminous records for potential issues; and to turn complex cases into compelling draft opinions. During my term, I was nominated to the board of the Supreme Judicial Court Law Clerks’ Society, where I currently serve.

I graduated in 2008 from Northeastern University School of Law. As a Northeastern law student, I worked at a wide range of full time legal internships in the Boston area. My experience includes the litigation department of Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo in Boston; the civil and criminal sessions of the Massachusetts Superior Court with Judge Isaac Borenstein; impact litigation support with the voting rights section of Demos, a national advocacy organization; and analysis of pending legislation with the Massachusetts Senate Ways & Means Committee. Whether your job requires knowledge of big firm litigation or 12-person juries, policy analysis or impact-litigation strategy, my background has prepared me to help.

I am happy to provide references for each of my past employers on request.

Testimonials

  • His research was superb — the best job any research assistant had ever done for me by a long shot.

. . . He understood completely what the purpose of the research was and how it would fit into my larger project. As a result, I was easily able to incorporate his findings into an article that will be published this fall — an article made thorough by Jack’s industriousness and ability to present information in a useful manner.”

  • Jack provided our office with outstanding legal research, critical thinking, and analysis.

His ability to absorb the current law on a particular matter and think about any potential flaws, loopholes, or other obstacles greatly informed our policy and legal decision making process. Most impressive was his ability to delve into any subject matter and present a variety of options moving forward.”
